Abstract

The article analyzes the results of theoretical and practical developments of Ukrainian and foreign scientists and practitioners on fostering post- traumatic growth (PTG) of servicemen ‒ combatants and veterans in the recovery (rehabilitation, readaptation, reintegration) period. The relevance of the study is due to the need to create and implement training programs for servicemen ‒ combatants and veterans returning to civilian life, on fostering positive psychological changes in them in the post-traumatic / post- experience period. A theoretical analysis of PTG training programs conducted in Ukraine (“Tribe”) and the USA (“Warrior PATHH”). It was established that the mentioned programs are conducted on the principle of “peer-to-peer” with elements of cognitive-behavioral, existential, narrative, relational and body-oriented approaches and are aimed at achieving goals in three areas:1) reducing symptoms of mental disorders, in particular PTSD; 2) improving the quality of life; 3) developing positive psychological changes. The article presents an author’s program for fostering post-experiential growth (PEG) of servicemen and veterans, developed taking into account sociocultural factors, which is based on the integral concept of PEG and consists of three sequential steps ‒ stabilization, restoration and growth, which corresponds to the three stages of the formation of human experience ‒ life, personal and personality, and can be implemented in group or individual formats. It was concluded that the psychologist’s work with servicemen ‒ combatants and veterans regarding the cultivation of PEG should be based on a facilitative approach and take into account the individual characteristics of both the psychologist and the client.
